Maria Stamou

Marina is a founding member of the SCE Embodhiment Collective, dancer and performer, yoga teacher, Thai Yoga Massage (TYM) therapist, and graduate student of the Department of Biotechnology (Athens University of Agriculture). She has studied contemporary and classical dance and graduated from the Rallou Manos Professional Dance School in 2012 (Greece). She continued her studies in dance and choreography in Sicily and Brussels, met and loved physical theater and instant composition, and participated in performances and video dance projects in Greece and Sicily.

Some intense physical injuries brought her first time in contact with Yoga, thus discovering a new way of exercise integral to the care of both the material and energy body, coexistence with oneself and others, self-development, and a new attitude to life. Injuries turned from an obstacle into motivation to learn.

In 2015 she became certified as a 200-hour Yoga Teacher in Hatha, Vinyasa, and Gentle Yoga (Swaha Yoga Center, Greece) and retrained in Prenatal & Postnatal / Mom and Baby Yoga, Yin Yoga, Aerial Unnata Yoga, Arm Balances, Tantric Philosophy & Chakras and Yoga Therapeutics for Musculoskeletal Disorders.

She has been initiated into the art of TYM since 2010 and to this day enriches her therapeutic vocabulary in Athens, Brussels, and Thailand, with additional training in  Dynamic Thai Yoga Massage, Thai Oil massage, Tantric massage, Tok Sen Technique, Aerial massage, Neuromascular massage and Craniosacral Therapy.

She recently completed her research on neurosciences and the correlation of stress with behavioral patterns, the expression of psychosomatic symptoms and trauma at EKPA, successfully attending the "Stress Management Health" training program and continues to attend conferences and actions of these themes at a global level.

Marina now lives and works in Athens, teaching hatha flow, gentle and prenatal yoga classes and workshops as well as seminars and  TY M sessions. She has continued her Yoga journey as a Yoga Teacher Trainer with Tanya Popovich at  Shri Gaia Institute (Yoga Teacher Trainer), fascinated with the coexistence but also facilitating the community.

Her life is intertwined with the further exploration of the potentials and capacities of the human body and mind, neurophysiology, and the integration of the therapeutic aspect of the philosophy and practice of yoga, meditation and mindfulness in everyday life .
